30 things

A few years ago, I stumbled upon a blog that had a list of 30 things to do before the author turned 30. I loved the idea and her list and it stuck with me. I recently turned 29 and have been working on compiling my list for the past 6 months or so. It was so much harder to make this list than I thought it would be. Let's face it, if I were independently wealthy, this list would look way different...I knew I wanted the items on my list to be achievable (aka affordable), fun, and include a few things that provided personal growth.

My first thing I want to tackle is having my Mom teach me how to play the guitar. Tyler is obsessed with the guitar too and plays his electric plastic one all of the time. Once I get it down, we can teach him. He can grow up to be a famous musician and take care of his mama and daddy in style. : )

the list in no particular order:
  • 1.       Learn how to play the guitar
  • 2.       Learn how to drive a stick
  • 3.       Learn how to sail
  • 4.       Go snowboarding
  • 5.       Grow a cutting garden
  • 6.       Knit a scarf
  • 7.       Apply to the NACP
  • 8.       Create a location journal for photography
  • 9.       Walk/run the 5k of the River Bank Run
  • 10.   Complete Project 52 photo assignments
  • 11.   Photograph a family reunion of a soldier coming home
  • 12.   Go to Cedar Point
  • 13.   Take 4 half days and explore parts of downtown Grand Rapids
  • 14.   Visit somewhere in Michigan I have never been
  • 15.   Volunteer at a soup kitchen
  • 16.   Have a picnic on the beach
  • 17.   Go a week without TV
  • 18.   Get our family photos done
  • 19.   Redecorate my bedroom using only items bought second hand or made
  • 20.   Make a floral pin or headband
  • 21.   Sew a ruffle pillow
  • 22.   Spend an entire day with Tyler doing things he wants to do…no work, no cleaning, simply quality time
  • 23.   Interview my grandparents and capture our family history
  • 24.   Get Preggo
  • 25.   Clean out my email boxes and keep them up to date and organized
  • 26.   Give golfing another try
  • 27.   Give up pop for 30 days…maybe longer!
  • 28.   Pick strawberries and make jam
  • 29.   Make an apron
  • 30.   Have my brothers teach me how to shoot a gun
